Prosecutors confirmed Monday that former Valencia High School varsity baseball coach Jared Snyder pleaded guilty Thursday to one felony count of grand theft.

“Jared Scott Snyder pleaded guilty on Nov. 10 to one felony count of grand theft,” said Jane Robison, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

“As part of his plea before Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Stephen Marcus, he agreed to complete 300 hours of community service and to pay the $14,129 in restitution to the Valencia High School before he is sentenced on May 9, 2018,” she said.

Synder’s plea was a negotiated settlement.

The former baseball coach was placed on administrative leave in March 2014 by the William S. Hart Union High School District after questions arose about fundraising. He resigned in December 2014.

Snyder was charged with misappropriation of public funds in January 2015 and ordered to stand trial.

On Jan. 21, 2015 he pleaded not guilty to a seven-count felony complaint alleging misappropriation of public funds by a public officer, embezzlement by a public officer and grand theft by embezzlement.

Doesn’t this guy coach and run a travel baseball and a travel softball team. So Cal Choppers softball and I/5 baseball. Paying restitution from travel ball funds? How could any parent let their child be coached by a man that pleaded guilty to stealing from children? Choppers letting this man coach is a black eye for the organization.

Got an idea for community service…How about cleaning up after football games and school dances????!!! I am sure there are many baseball players from the program that would vote for that! OR….parking lot attendant for UCLA football games???!! Just an idea…

@ Scooby……I think you have this coach mixed up with another one from Choppers, Jared does not coach and has never coached for choppers…I can assure you cause I know a few that do.

@ Wonderboy….I know for a fact that he has a 12u Choppers team. He is now going to be convicted as a felon…is he even allowed to coach…besides as a parent my child would be off that team yesterday. So Cal Choppers must do the right thing and get rid of this disgrace to the sport!

Scooby, Hmmmmm Gonna have to look into this one, yes you are right, I don’t think he should have any contact or Coach any sport since he is Guilty of His crime. You would think he would be ordered to do so.

My kid played briefly for him. I had a few difficult exchanges with him but I think he was misunderstood. He obviously pissed off the wrong people. He had 6 coaches coaching 3 teams. Varsity, JV and Freshman. It was a great baseball facility. The $14,000 he supposedly took was funneled back (albeit under the table) to pay for them, facilities upgrades and equipment. I think his head strong attitude rubbed people the wrong way. I don’t think he pocketed the money is what I’m saying but he could be a jerk sometimes.
