In the 38 years since the first Cheesecake Factory restaurant opened 30 miles south of Santa Clarita in Beverly Hills, the chain, known for its extensive menu, generous portions and legendary desserts, has spread across the country and around the world. Yesterday, the newest outpost of the restaurant chain opened at Westfield Valencia Town Center. The restaurant features more than 250 menu items, including nearly 50 lower calorie dishes, handmade in-house items with fresh ingredients, and of course, more than 50 signature cheesecakes and desserts.

Lines formed early this morning for the opening of the restaurant, which is in 8,000 square feet of retail space formerly occupied by Sunglass Hut, Talbots and the Carlton Hair salon. The deal for leasing the site closed in May. The restaurant features contemporary décor that includes imported limestone floors and custom wood columns, hand painted murals and modern lighting.

Surveys have consistently named Cheesecake Factory as the restaurant local residents most wanted in Santa Clarita. “For years, Cheesecake Factory has topped our lists of most-requested tenants,” said Tom Miller, general manager of Westfield Valencia Town Center. “So this is a big moment for the Santa Clarita Valley and for the center. It says a lot about our ability to attract A-level tenants. Plus, our neighbors won’t have to drive to Sherman Oaks to enjoy Cheesecake Factory.”

“Cheesecake Factory is quite selective in their choice of locations, so the fact that they chose to locate in the Santa Clarita Valley is a tribute to the growth and success of the Valley and its emergence as a destination,” said Holly Schroeder, President and CEO of the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corp.

Nationally, consumers voted Cheesecake Factory America’s favorite casual dining restaurant among 40 chains in the 2016 Consumer Picks survey conducted by Nation’s Restaurant News magazine and WD Partners. Survey respondents rated the chains on 10 attributes, including food quality, cleanliness, service and atmosphere.

The Cheesecake Factory Inc., based in Calabasas Hills, owns and operates 206 full-service casual dining restaurants in the United States and Puerto Rico, including 193 Cheesecake Factory restaurants; 12 Grand Lux Cafés, and one RockSugar Pan Asian Kitchen. In the quarter ending Sept. 27, 2016, Cheesecake Factory reported net income of $34.6 million on revenues of $560 million, and had its 27th consecutive quarter of sales growth.

The Cheesecake Factory of Valencia, located at 24250 Town Center Drive, # 110, across from Pottery Barn, will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, with brunch served from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The restaurant offers curbside to-go service, a full takeout menu, and a Friday happy hour from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
