Strong winds pummeled the Santa Clarita Valley Sunday night after the National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for the area.
Gusts up to 45 miles per hour hit the Santa Clarita Valley Sunday, bringing winds strong enough to potentially impact trees, power lines and cause isolated property damage—but the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station reported no such damage as of 7:00 p.m.
California Highway Patrol logs confirm at least one freeway incident is the result of Sunday’s vicious weather.
Widespread strong winds were expected through most of southwestern California today, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a wind advisory for the Santa Clarita Valley.
“Extremely strong west to north winds following the storms this weekend are expected to affect the mountains on Ventura and Los Angeles counties as well as the Antelope Valley today through tonight,” the advisory says.
“(The wind) should start subsiding in the evening,” Bonnie Bartling, of The National Weather Service told The Signal Sunday morning.
The advisory remains in effect until 9 p.m. today.
As for rain, light scattered showers are expected through Sunday, but no significant amount.
