Bouquet Canyon Road reopened Friday following brief storm closure

County officials reopened Bouquet Canyon Road Friday afternoon after a storm moved through the area Thursday night and Friday morning.

Los Angeles County Department of Public Works officials closed Bouquet Canyon Road, from two miles north of Vasquez Canyon Road to five-and-a-half miles north of Vasquez Canyon Road, Thursday to prepare for the storm.

Steven Frasher, public information officer for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, said the bulk of the storm passed through the area Friday morning.

“The road was inspected by engineers and reopened by 1 p.m. Friday,” Frasher said.

Earlier, road safety concerns for flooding and silt buildup along Bouquet Canyon Road caused Public Works officials to close the road for nearly a month in October.

Following concerns from Bouquet Creek residents, Public Works officials announced Nov. 21 that they would reopen the road and only close it when it rains or when there is a “condition where there is unacceptable water on the road.”
