A man and woman were arrested Sunday night for possession of a stolen vehicle in Little Tujunga Canyon.  The male suspect was also arrested for discharging a weapon.

Officers from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station came across the stolen vehicle near Little Tujunga Canyon Road and Santa Clara Truck Trail around 8 p.m. Sunday.

“Crescenta Valley deputies saw a Penske truck parked on the side of the road and, when they ran the license plate, it came back stolen,” said Lieutenant Randy Tuinstra of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.

While they were investigating, the deputies also heard shots fired inside a nearby residence.

According to Tuinstra, the property owner and his girlfriend went out to the street and said they were moving items using a truck given to them by a friend.

“When the officers couldn’t corroborate the evidence with the truck, they were arrested,” Tuinstra said.

The male was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and for discharging a firearm, and the woman was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle. No injuries were reported following the incident.
