A 65-year-old Canyon Country woman accused of operating a drug house was among a dozen people arrested on drug charges following a drug raid at a Canyon Country home Wednesday morning.

The “Narco Operation” was carried out at a house on the 18900 block of Nearbrook Street, Shirley Miller, spokeswoman for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station told The Signal Thursday.

Local Sheriff’s detectives arrested Judith Ward, 65, on suspicion of maintaining a place to sell controlled substances, a felony.

She was taken into custody shortly after 9:30 a.m., with bail set at $30,000.

One woman who lives near the Nearbrook house told The Signal Thursday: “There were cops everywhere.”

Miller said Nearbrook was not shut down.

“Only the residence of Judith Ward was contained,” she said. “People that lived on the street could go to their homes. No one was allowed to leave or enter Ward’s home during that time period.”

“There were several other individuals detained, four male adults arrested and booked on various drug charges and/or warrants,” Miller said.

The arresting officers that carried out the morning raid arrested another five other people later in the day, also on various drug offenses.

Miller said the subsequent arrests were not related to the raid on Nearbrook.

Three men and two women were arrested Thursday on suspicion they were transporting and/or selling controlled substances.

Two of the suspects – a 25-year-old truck driver and a 21-year-old saleswoman respectively – were identified as residents of Huntington Park.

Two other suspects included a 27-year-old construction worker and a 19-year-old delivery man, both residents of Redwood City.

The fifth suspect was a 25-year-old unemployed Los Angeles woman.
