At about 11 a.m., a 911 call from Pico Canyon Elementary School reported a six-year-old boy to be unconscious, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Richard Licon.
Crews from Fire Station 124 responded to the school and requested a helicopter response. A landing zone was formed nearby at Jake Kuredjian County Park.
Copter 16 landed at a grassy area clear of obstructions shortly after 11:30 a.m.
The boy and a parent were loaded onto the helicopter and flown to a pediatric trauma center minutes later.
