Foothill boys tennis roundup: Cats keep flawless record

West Ranch boys tennis remains undefeated in the Foothill League after taking down Saugus High at West Ranch on Wednesday.

Davey Woodland swept three sets in singles all by 6-0 scores. Parker McBride and Quincy Walter-Eze also swept with scores of 6-1, 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1, 6-2, respectively.

Two doubles teams also swept for the Wildcats, who are 10-2 overall and 5-0 in league. Saugus is 10-2 and 3-2.

Earlier this week, the Centurions moved up a spot to the No. 3 position in Division 3 in the CIF-Southern Section polls.

West Ranch is at home against Golden Valley today at 3 p.m. Saugus plays Canyon at home today at 3 p.m.

Valencia 18, Canyon 0

The Vikings swept every set in singles and doubles on Wednesday.

The pairings of Evan Balmain and Chan Gi Kim; and Jackson Boxall and Stephen Thay each won all three sets by 6-0 scores.

Valencia is 8-5 overall and 4-1 in league, while Canyon is 3-10 and 0-5.

The Vikes are currently ranked No. 9 in Division 2 in the CIF-SS polls this week. They’ll play on the road at Hart today at 3 p.m.

Hart 13, Golden Valley 5

Hart’s Daniel LaForteza and Jeremy Killian swept in doubles, 7-5, 7-5, 6-1. The Indians pairing of Andrew Erwin and Chad Thompson also won 6-1, 6-2, 1-6.

In singles, Tanner Spendlove and Sam Fossa each won two sets in singles for the Indians with scores of 1-6, 6-0, 6-1 and 2-6, 6-0, 6-4, respectively.

Golden Valley’s Dylan Yu swept three sets 6-1, 6-0, and 6-2.

Hart is 7-6 overall and 2-3 in league.
