It was a high steaks grilling competition at Wolf Creek Brewery on Saturday as three cooks faced off against each other at the fourth annual Grill Master Challenge.

“We have three local business owners…(that) have challenged themselves to a duel of sports but the weapon of choice is meat,” said Laina McFerren , the owner of Wolf Creek Brewery.

Despite the sweet aroma and great beer wafting around the brewery,  this event was all for a good cause—to raise money for the The Youth Project which provides support to local children in need.

The event was expected to raise $15,000, all of which will go to the SCV Youth Project. One-thousand of those dollars will be coming from Wolf Creek Brewery itself, which hosted the event.

From depression to anxiety, children have a lot of obstacles to overcome and every bit of assistance goes a long way.

“Kids are up against a lot now…and we try to be available to help,” said Nancy Staczyk, a board member of The Youth Project.
