A one-time police officer, attorney and also registered sex offender whose last reported address was near the Westfield Valencia Town Center mall was sentenced to 214 days in jail and three years’ probation after he pleaded guilty to failing to file a change of address with authorities.

Arthur George Crabtree, 55, appeared Tuesday in Pasadena Superior Court where he pleaded to one count of failure to file a change of address.

“He was given formal probation for three years and 214 days in (Los Angeles) County jail with credit for time served,” Ricardo Santiago, spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office told The Signal Thursday.

Crabtree’s last reported address according to the Megan’s Law website was on Town Center Drive, east of McBean Parkway.

In the earlier case, he was arrested in January 2005 after he arranged a meeting with an undercover agent posing as a 13-year-old girl, according to the Los Angeles Times. Evidence and testimony presented during the trial found that Crabtree had solicited an underage Santa Clarita girl, as well as undercover agents who posed as five different teenage girls.

Conducting a routine parole search in 2011, the Times also reported that parole officers found materials on his laptops indicating he was allegedly in contact with children under the age of 18.

Crabtree then fled to Mexico in 2012 and was found living there a year ago where he was extradited to the United States by agents the FBI’s Fugitive Task Force.

He had been on the run since then but appeared in a Burbank courtroom on Apr. 25, 2016, after being extradited from Mexico, Santiago said in a news release issued a year ago.

Crabtree pleaded not guilty on Jan. 17, 2012 to one felony count of child molesting with a prior but failed to appear to a hearing in April 2012 and subsequently an arrest warrant was issued.

Prosecutors filed Case GA084029 against Crabtree on Aug. 17, 2011, alleging he had been communicating through the internet with numerous young girls with lewd purposes.

Crabtree was out on parole for a 2006 conviction on 10 counts including felony attempted lewd act upon a child and felony attempt to send harmful matter in a prior case, prosecutors said last year.

He was arrested on Apr. 21, 2016, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico by the FBI’s Fugitive Task Force and returned to the United States.

Crabtree is a retired Glendale Police Department officer and also was an attorney, prosecutors said.
