UPDATE: One dead, multiple people hurt in traffic collision in SCV

A man involved in a two-vehicle collision was killed Friday night after suffering injuries from the crash, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

A 24-year-old man from Hemet was pronounced dead. Both his passenger, a 23-year-old Santa Clarita Valley woman, and the driver of the other vehicle, a 20-year-old SCV man, were transported to the hospital in critical condition.

The crash was reported at 8:45 p.m. at the intersection of McBean Parkway and Copper Hill Drive, said Supervising Fire Dispatcher Robert Diaz. It was a head-on collision.

At least one person at the scene was trapped in a car and had to be extricated, Diaz said. A witness at the scene said two other victims had to be extricated from vehicles.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
