When I am on my own

and in my zone

I don’t notice how time flies

and hours go by,

I get so into it

till I forget

to rest or eat

and don’t care if I look so neat

I’m not phased

by every wrinkle on my face

because in my mind

I’m still a child.

It gives me delight

to be quiet,

see no one in sight

just write and write

from bright daylight

to night.

When I write

It’s me and my poem

all alone, in my own zone,

me in the mood

that feels real good!
