Police responded to reports of a vehicle collision in Canyon Country on Saturday at around 4 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers found an injured and intoxicated man sitting by his vehicle that had crashed into five parked cars, according to Sgt. Price of the SCV Sheriff’s Department.
Upon further investigation, officials determined that the intoxicated man was the registered owner of the vehicle, but that his injuries indicated that he was in the passenger seat at the time of the collision.
“He’s not talking to us, and they didn’t find anybody else yet,” said Sgt. Ron Price of the SCV Station. He was walking away from the vehicle, so at the time they thought that maybe, because it was his vehicle, that he was the driver.”
The suspect, later arrested for public intoxication, refused to cooperate with police and would not say who was driving his vehicle.
No other injuries were reported and the suspect was taken into custody.
