Homicide detectives are investigating the stabbing death of a man in Castaic Monday afternoon.

Detectives were on Ridge Route Road Monday afternoon after having been dispatched to that location about 3 p.m., a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s Homicide Bureau told The Signal Monday afternoon.

The victim was described only as a black man, LASD Dep. Guillermina Saldaña wrote in a news release issued shortly after 4:20 p.m. Monday.

Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department were dispatched at 1:26 p.m., a Fire Department spokesman said.

“The call came in as a cardiac arrest,” he said.

When paramedics arrived at the 35500 block of North Ridge Route Road, near Pinecrest Place, however, they found the man dead, the Fire Department spokesman said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station were notified.

Local sheriff’s deputies, in turn, notified homicide detectives.
