A Sylmar woman was arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury in connection with a traffic collision in Valencia.

Rebecca Parras, 32, who works as a teacher according to arresting officers, was arrested shortly after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday by officers of the California Highway Patrol.

About 45 minutes prior to the arrest, CHP officers responded to reports of a traffic collision involving two vehicles on The Old Road at Magic Mountain Parkway.

Parras was allegedly driving a Chevy Impala.

According to CHP Officer Josh Greengard, she failed to stop at red traffic light heading northbound on The Old Road at Magic Mountain Parkway.

She allegedly broadsided a Nissan Altima causing moderate injuries to the Nissan’s driver.
