Members of the Santa Clarita Valley business community gathered at Oakmont of Valencia Wednesday for the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce’s after-hours mixer, which draws nearly 150 residents every month, according to chamber officials.
With refreshments and raffle tickets in hand, real estate agents, dance instructors and local executives enjoyed plenty of opportunities to meet and greet fellow business owners who were willing to discuss the origins of their business as well as the direction they’re headed in the future.
“The benefit of the event is that people are frequently in business but don’t know what each others’ businesses are, so here’s a chance where you can — in a relaxed and fun atmosphere — learn about the facility that you’re in. And, at the same time, you get to mingle with other people,” said chamber Chairwoman Nancy Starczyk. “It’s amazing what word of mouth does. There’s so much social media going on but it’s a fun activity to come here, get a business card, shake a hand and ask how people can benefit from each other’s business.”
Starzyck added that Oakmont was chosen to host the mixer because the senior living community volunteered to be the site of the August networking mixer
“Oakmont wanted to share their bounty here, which is beautiful,” Starczyk said. “We’re excited to be here and see it, especially because they always have the best food.”
After a few hours of interacting with their peers, attendees enjoyed a tour of Oakmont’s second location in the Santa Clarita Valley.
