The Signal announced the City Council’s bold action to reel in a financial windfall from L.A County: namely, funds for low-income housing. The Riverview project will build 318 homes which, of course, require electricity and water. However, in the same issue of the paper, it was reported that Southern California Edison (was scheduled to hold) a meeting to explain the mystical phenomena of Public Safety Power Shutoffs. The purpose of the meeting was to inform the public how to deal with interruptions, but not to inform us how the utility will increase supplies. Apparently their goal is reduce the number of outages rather than prevent them.
Then there is the water shortage, where watering “non-functional lawns” will soon be prohibited. No problem! I’m certain that our diligent City Council will assure that plentiful electric power and savory water will be provided for Riverview and all future developments.
