Rain is expected to come to the Santa Clarita Valley for a few days this week, according to National Weather Service officials.

The weather for Wednesday is expected to be warmer temperatures around the mid 90s to 100s, according to Ryan Kittell with the NWS.

However, some lower temperatures are expected for Thursday and Friday, with muggy and sticky humidity, Kittell said.

The moisture in the air from Tropical Storm Mario will weaken significantly and move through California during Thursday and Friday with temperatures being in the mid 80s, according to Kittell.

Kittell added that Thursday and Friday evening will feel warmer due to the tropical weather.

Reports of rain are beginning on Thursday afternoon and continue into Friday with a quarter to half an inch of rainfall, possibly reaching over an inch, Kittell said.

There is lower risk for heavier debris flow in the burn scars around the valley, but it is also a general threat, Kittell said.

Wind concerns are from Tuesday through Thursday with random winds reaching gusts up to 30 mph. There will be some stronger winds with the rainfall, according to Kittell.

Starting on Saturday, there is a possibility of lingering showers with the temperature being around 86 degrees and Sunday being 88 degrees, Kittell said.

Kittell advised residents to be aware of the potential for floods and to be cognizant of your local surroundings. He added that people should expect wet roads and to plan their days accordingly.
