Kukaua graduates from McNeese State University  

McNeese State University conferred degrees on 624 graduates during two ceremonies for the university’s 164th commencement Friday, May 9, in McNeese’s Legacy Center.   

Among the graduates was Kaile Elizabeth Leilani Kukaua, of Valencia, who earned a bachelor of science in biological science. 

The spring class of 2025 included graduates from 38 parishes, 17 states and 14 countries, and 650 degrees were awarded, including 35 associate degrees, 536 bachelor’s degrees, 78 master’s degrees and one doctoral degree. 

Gordon graduates from Elms College 

Kyle Gordon, of Castaic, received a bachelor of arts degree from Elms College following the conclusion of the spring 2025 semester. 

Gordon was among 279 students who received their degrees in December. Gordon also was named to the College of Our Lady of the Elms spring 2025 dean’s list. Gordon was among more than 450 students named to the spring dean’s list. 

Elms College, in Chocopee, Massachusetts, is a co-educational Catholic college offering a liberal arts curriculum. It was founded in 1928 by the Sisters of St. Joseph. 

2 local students named to Nebraska deans’ list 

More than 6,700 University of Nebraska-Lincoln students have been named to the deans’ list for the spring semester of the 2024-25 academic year, including two local students. 

The local students earning dean’s list recognition are: 

• Canyon Country: Kendall Rae Lescher, senior, dean’s list, College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, majoring in forensic science. 

• Santa Clarita: Grace Catherine Gilroy, junior, dean’s lists, College of Arts and Sciences and Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts, majoring in English and dance. 

Qualification for the deans’ list varies among the eight undergraduate colleges and the Explore Center. Students can be on the Deans’ List for more than one college.
