Two Rosamond residents were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a crime following a traffic stop in a rural area of San Francisquito Canyon Road in the early hours of Wednesday morning, according to a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station official.

Deputies responded to a call for service in relation to a possible theft on the 33900 block of San Francisquito Canyon Road at approximately 4 a.m., Deputy Mariela Picard, a spokeswoman for the SCV Sheriff’s Station, wrote in an email to The Signal on Thursday.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle linked to prior theft-related calls at the location and a 56-year-old man and 46-year-old woman from Rosamond were in the vehicle, Picard added.

When deputies searched the vehicle, they located brass casings in backpacks along with tools believed to be used in the collection process, according to Picard, and both suspects were taken into custody and arrested on suspicion of grand theft and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Both suspects are due at the Los Angeles County Superior Court in San Fernando on Oct. 22, according to L.A. County Sheriff’s Department arrest logs available online.
