Person dies after hit-and-run in Castaic

A person has died after being struck by a semi-truck on the northbound off-ramp of Lake Hughes Road in Castaic on Wednesday morning, according to an official with the California Highway Patrol Newhall-area Office. 

Officers were dispatched to the scene at 6:47 a.m., according to Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, public information officer with the CHP. 

“Units arrived on scene and quickly discovered the suspect vehicle was not on scene. A hit-and-run investigation is underway. Lake Hughes Road was temporarily shut down during the investigation,” said Burgos-Lopez in a news release on Wednesday morning.
