A GoFundMe has been established to support the family of a Santa Clarita Flyers hockey player’s mother, who remains in critical condition at a Colorado intensive care unit after a van crash that killed another player’s parent.

Brenda Greenwald, 48, was in the Sprinter van that was hit by a snowplow on Interstate 70 last week while players and their families were traveling to the Western Girls Hockey League playoff tournament.

A father of one of the players, 38-year-old Manny Lorenzana, was driving the van and died in the collision.

Brenda was traveling with her three kids – 11-year-old Joshua, 9-year-old Matthew and 13-year-old Emily, a member of the Flyers – when the van was hit. Brenda received emergency surgery to repair a torn aorta and torn bowels, and is being treated for several broken bones as well as a brain injury, according to the GoFundMe page.

Joshua, Matthew and Emily were also injured and are receiving ongoing medical and dental treatment, according to the GoFundMe. Brenda’s husband Jason is taking care of their five children in California while Brenda recovers in the ICU.

The GoFundMe for the Greenwald family has collected over $17,000, about 80% of its goal, as of the publication of this story.

Donations are being managed by family friend Lisa Tarr. The GoFundMe page can be found at tinyurl.com/3vv548pu
