Valencia boys’ volleyball wins at home over Canyon

Vikings win in four sets over Canyon; Plus, scores from around the Foothill League

The Valencia Vikings are unbeaten after the first two Foothill League games of the season with wins over the Hart Hawks on Tuesday and Canyon Cowboys on Thursday.  

In the win over Canyon, the Vikings defeated the Cowboys in four sets, 25-13, 25-21, 20-25, 25-19.  

The Vikings (6-6, 2-0) improved their overall record to 6-6 in the season and will look to continue their winning ways on Tuesday with a road game at Saugus High School against the Centurions, set to begin at 5:30 p.m.  

The Cowboys (6-5, 0-2) fell to 0-2 in league play for the first time since the 2023 season.  

The Cowboys will have a scheduled bye on Tuesday and will return to league play on Thursday on the road at Castaic High School for a matchup against the Coyotes with first serve scheduled for 5:30 p.m.  

After Thursday’s games, here are scores from around the Foothill League:  

Castaic 3, West Ranch 1: The Castaic Coyotes (9-1, 1-1) began the season with eight straight wins to start the year. And after a loss in the league opener to Golden Valley, the Coyotes have bounced back and defeated the West Ranch Wildcats (3-5, 0-1), who are the defending Foothill League champions.  

The Coyotes defeated the Wildcats in four sets, 21-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-18, and claimed their ninth win of the season.  

The Coyotes will look to continue their winning ways on the road at Hart High School for a matchup against the Hawks on Tuesday.  

The Wildcats play again on Tuesday at Golden Valley High School for a matchup against the Grizzlies.  

Both games are set to begin at 5:30 p.m.  

Saugus 3, Golden Valley 0: The Saugus Centurions (6-3, 2-0) open the league season with back-to-back wins after a victory over the Golden Valley Grizzlies (4-7, 1-1) on Thursday.  

The Centurions defeated the Grizzlies in straight sets, 25-23, 25-19, 25-16.  

Saugus is set to play again on Tuesday at Saugus High School against the visiting Valencia Vikings. The Grizzlies will look to bounce back at Golden Valley High School and host the visiting West Ranch Wildcats on Tuesday.  

Both games are set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
