The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce has announced that the inaugural WorkWell: The Business Performance Summit, taking place on May 14 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., will focus on one of the most overlooked drivers of performance: sleep.

Under this year’s theme, “The Power of Sleep,” WorkWell will bring together leading experts to explore how sleep directly impacts focus, decision-making, energy and overall performance, the chamber said in a news release.

“At a time when organizations and individuals are navigating increasing demands for productivity, consistency and results, sleep is emerging as a critical factor influencing how people think, perform and lead,” the release said.

“WorkWell is a platform that addresses the real drivers of performance in today’s workforce,” Di Thompson, 2026 chair of the SCV Chamber board, said in the release. “This year’s focus on sleep highlights how recovery directly impacts focus, leadership and long-term results. It’s a conversation that is both timely and essential for our business community.”

The summit will feature a multidisciplinary panel of experts offering practical insights into how sleep influences individual performance and organizational outcomes, the release said.

Featured speakers include:

• Dr. Darren Himeles, board-certified family medicine physician with Kaiser Permanente, who provides care across all stages of life and emphasizes preventive care, evidence-based medicine, and long-term health outcomes that support sustained performance.

• Dr. Ijendu Korie, medical director of Soul Klinic and attending psychiatrist, who brings expertise in the connection between sleep, stress and cognitive performance, along with a strong focus on education and advancing mental health awareness.

• Dr. Neal Walia, double board-certified physician in internal medicine and sleep medicine with UCLA Health, who specializes in diagnosing and managing sleep and circadian rhythm disorders that directly impact recovery, energy and daily performance.

“Sleep is one of the most underestimated drivers of performance,” Ivan Volschenk, president/CEO of the SCV Chamber, said in the release. “From decision-making to energy and resilience, everything starts with how well we recover. WorkWell is designed to bring this conversation forward in a way that is practical, relevant and immediately actionable.”

Registration ($35 for chamber members, $50 for non-members) is open at www.scvchamber.com under the Events tab. Space is limited and early registration is encouraged.
