A man in a white Chevy pickup truck was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital after he was involved in a traffic collision and plunged off a bridge on the northbound side of The Old Road south of Rye Canyon Road on Saturday evening, according to California Highway Patrol Newhall-area officials.
The incident was reported at 10:15 p.m. and the man was trapped in the vehicle, according to Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, spokesman for the CHP.
Officers requested Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel to assist with the incident, he added.
Burgos-Lopez said that the man was responsive but had major injuries.
He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, he said.
