The Santa Clarita Community College District board of trustees is scheduled to hold its Board Self Evaluation Retreat on Friday in room 301 of the Valencia campus’ University Center.
Public comments on closed session items, which will be in relation to the superintendent/president public employee performance evaluation, and a conference with labor negotiators will take place before the 1 p.m. closed session.
According to the agenda, the board will return to public session at 3 p.m., when public comments on items not listed on the agenda will be heard.
The Board Self-Evaluation Retreat gives trustees an opportunity to review progress toward established goals, strengthen governance practices, and further develop a shared sense of purpose to the district, its students, and the community, the agenda item reads.
The evaluation is regularly conducted by the board of trustees in accordance with standards established by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, which has been a long-recognized practice.
“As part of this process, the board of trustees and the superintendent/president established goals and priorities for 2025-2026. Prior to discussing the results of their evaluation, the board president will provide the final quarterly update on progress toward the 2025-2026 goals,” the agenda item stated.
Trustees will then engage in a conversation to further discuss accomplishments, key milestones, educational readings, ongoing initiatives, and areas requiring continued focus. To further support the board’s priorities and strategic objectives. Jasmine Ruys, COC’s superintendent/president, will then provide a progress update on the CEO goals for 2025-26.
