Saturday, October 15, will mark the 27th celebration of the Santa Clarita Artists Association with The Art Classic Gala which will be held in Hart Hall at William S. Hart Park in Newhall, from 1:30-5 p.m. The art exhibit will be open for free public viewing on Saturday from 10-1 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 16, from 10-4 p.m.
Two notable judges were selected for the SCAA Art Classic Gala. Julie Snyder and Mary Kay Wilson will judge approximately 150 pieces of art.
Julie Snyder is a world-traveled oil painter, born and raised in Scotland. An illustrator for advertising and the motion picture industry, she now lives and teaches workshops in Southern California. https://www.juliesnyder.com
Mary Kay Wilson – Wilson’s award-winning paintings have been widely exhibited both locally and nationally. A signature member of Watercolor West, and is in the Pasadena Museum of History’s Contemporary Masters, Artistic Eden IV exhibit. Wilson was a member of the mural team in Judy Chicago’s Envisioning the Future, painting a 140′ x 42′ mural. www.marykaywilsonart.com
Guests at the Gala will be entertained by Santa Clarita resident Jimmy Carnelli. Carnelli worked in a variety of live, recorded and televised performances with artists such as Chuck Negron, Mike Pinera, John Fogerty, Kenny Nolan, Spencer Davis, Danny Gans, Wolfman Jack, Bobby Kimbal and the Los Angeles Raiders Big Band. https://www.jimmycarnellientertainment.com/ ).
“Complimentary beverages, hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be served. A fun Silent Auction will be available with artwork and other wonderful items for purchase,” said Cathy King, Art Classic chairperson. “Awards for the best art will be presented in multiple categories. Proceeds from this Gala will go to art scholarships for SCV high school and college students.”
