Halloween came early on Saturday, October 28, as the residents of the Oakmont Senior Living Center attended a fun filled Horsey Halloween Parade at the Jump for Joy Equestrian Center.
The residents and other guests were treated to a parade of creatively costumed horses and humans. There were many amazing and innovative entries including a skeleton, a devil, a dragon, two angels, a football player with her equine football, two pirates and their human mateys, a tooth fairy, a dungeon wraith, and many others.
The seniors also participated in a “meet and greet and pat and treat” opportunity with the horses. Residents were able to get up close and personal to the costumed horses and interact with them one on one, patting them and feeding them carrots. No fingers were lost in the process!
Additionally, there was a “Name the New Horse” contest.
This was the first ever Halloween event offered by Jump for Joy, a horse boarding and training facility that has been operated by Linda Luger in Santa Clarita for 16 years. Typical activities at Jump for Joy include individual and group riding lessons, training, and competing. However, the overwhelming response by participants and guests was so joyful and positive that this function will now become an annual tradition.
