News Release

British family historian Myko Clelland will guide you through researching your family history at the Valencia Family History Center on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Parish records are the cornerstone of all English and Welsh family history research, according to the Family History Center. The records give details of baptism, marriage and burial all the way back to 1538, regardless of wealth or social status.

You can join Clelland, of Findmypast.com, for a journey through the centuries and learn everything you need to know about these essential documents to frame your research, get those vital names and dates and discover your ancestors.

Explore key milestones in the history of these records, what each of the different types of documents look like and how they change through time. Learn how to read them, what to look for, where to find them and what to do when they seemingly don’t exist. This should give you the best possible chance to take your family story all the way back to the time of the Tudor kings and queens.

The seminar will be held at the Valencia Family History Center, Room 13 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 24443 McBean Parkway in Valencia. For future classes, seminars, events and center hours, visit ValenciaFHC.org.
