Joan MacGregor has my enthusiastic support for re-election to the College of the Canyons board of trustees. Why? Because Joan consistently reads board agendas thoroughly and carefully, and formulates important and insightful questions. She represents the voters well as she is especially attuned to the budget, expenditures, contracts and leases. Other community members and I are grateful for Joan’s attention to how taxpayers’ money is spent by a public educational institution with a $300-million budget.
In addition, Joan is an effective ambassador who highlights the college’s many positive attributes, programs and services everywhere she goes. Most importantly, she advocates for all students yet always reminds us to take care of the veterans and the students with special needs. She does not just talk but turns her love for the college into action. She supports special programs, donates to the foundation’s student scholarly funds, and even established a scholarship in honor of her late husband who was a veteran in the medical field.
Sometimes there is a need for change but this is not such a case. Joan is as committed and engaged a trustee as she has always been. She has the respect and confidence of the faculty and the classified employees at the college as evidenced by their formal endorsement. She has my endorsement as a fellow board member who admires her and appreciates her service. Join me in voting for Joan MacGregor.
