Congregation Beth Shalom is once again providing Santa Clarita residents with a new documentary set to be screened as part of its CBS Film Series on April 14.

“Shooting For Home” focuses on the life of basketball player Kevin Bradshaw, a young prodigy who lived through several ups and downs, from being homeless to playing and coaching basketball in Israel for nearly two decades.

“The basketball is in the background,” said Suzannah Warlick, film series director. “It’s more of a personal story.”

Warlick was inspired to feature the documentary because of March Madness, but she hopes people walk away from the movie admiring how Bradshaw pulled himself up and persevered.

“It’s a story about hope,” Warlick said.

Visitors wearing their CBS Films shirts, bringing a new friend or bringing any friend will receive a free raffle ticket. Raffle tickets go toward possibly winning a $25 gift card of the winner’s choice.

The screening will start at noon and admission costs $5.

Congregation Beth Shalom is located at 21430 Centre Pointe Parkway. To register ahead of time, call 661-254-2411 or email [email protected]. CBS Film Series screenings are held monthly, presenting films that address social awareness and global relevance.
