One of my favorite traditions as a fan of the game was hearing Vin Scully announce that “It’s time for Dodger baseball!” When you hear those five simple words at Dodger Stadium, you can feel the electricity and excitement in the crowd as the team gets ready to take the field.

Another tradition that has become synonymous with Dodger baseball over the last four decades is SCV Dodger Day, which will take place this year on Saturday, May 11 at 6:10 p.m., when the Dodgers take on the Washington Nationals. In the 57-year history of Dodger Stadium, I am proud to say that Santa Clarita Valley residents have organized a Dodger Day event for 42 consecutive seasons.

SCV Dodger Day is a wonderful opportunity for Dodger fans living in Santa Clarita to not only join their friends and neighbors for a night of baseball at Dodger Stadium, but also give back to organizations in our community. That’s because a portion of every ticket sold through our SCVDodgerDay.com website will be donated to a local school or nonprofit organization of your choice.

Whether you attend 20 games a year, or have never been to see the Dodgers in person, this is the perfect opportunity to support your community and the team you love. It becomes a win-win-win situation when you factor in that the Dodgers are giving away a FREE lightweight hoodie to fans in attendance, while supplies last. Be sure to arrive early!

The city of Santa Clarita is going a step further and holding a drawing that will reward 15 residents and give them the opportunity to attend batting practice prior to the game. Everyone who purchased a ticket to the game through the Dodger Day website is entered into our random drawing.

The Dodgers are also hosting “Pups in the Park Night,” so those who purchased a ticket in the right field pavilion can bring their dog with them, or just enjoy the company of some very adorable fans.

I also encourage you to take advantage of the city’s shuttle service to the game this year, if the thought of driving to the stadium is what is holding you back. The city is offering residents the opportunity to take the SCV Dodger Day Shuttle for $3 per person each way, which can be paid in cash, with a TAP card or through the Token Transit mobile app when you board the bus.

The shuttle will have two pickup locations to get fans to the game around an hour before first pitch, and will depart Dodger Stadium to return to Santa Clarita 45 minutes after the game concludes. You can learn more about the shuttle schedule at SCVDodgerDay.com. There are a limited number of seats on the shuttle, which will be available on a first come, first served basis.

The Dodgers are certainly playing well during the early part of the season, and the SCV Dodger Day game this year should be a good one for the hometown team. I hope you will join us for the 42nd annual SCV Dodger Day as we cheer on the Dodgers!
