L.A. County Sheriff’s Department officials did not respond to requests for additional information Wednesday regarding a 14-year-old boy who went missing — and then was found — after it was initially reported that he may have driven away in a family member’s truck.
The Detective Bureau for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, which responded to the initial report Tuesday, initially indicated the teen was missing, along with “a family member’s” truck and the keys to the truck.
There was no information available Wednesday regarding the circumstances of how the boy was located. The LASD released a Nixle update Tuesday night saying he had been located.
The SCV Sheriff’s Station on Tuesday issued an alert for the boy reported missing by his family. The alert reported that he had last been seen at the family home in the 25000 block of Hidden Willow Circle in Canyon Country.
SCV Sheriff’s Station deputies suspected he took a family member’s 2003 white GMC truck. The initial alert included pictures of the boy and the truck, along with its license plate number.
There was no known suspected destination, so the public was asked to keep an eye out for the truck and report it to the station, if located.
Neither of the Nixle alerts indicated whether it was believed that the boy left alone or was accompanied by someone.
