A minor earthquake was recorded near Fillmore at about 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
At a magnitude of 3.6, the earthquake is unlikely to have caused serious damage. A moderate earthquake would have reached a magnitude of 5.3, according to a USGS information page.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station watch deputy Nicholas Hoslet confirmed the office hadn’t received any calls about the earthquake in Santa Clarita.
USGS reported the earthquake occurred about 8 miles northwest of Fillmore, to the west of the Sespe Condor Sanctuary, at a depth of 7 miles.
