A plugged-in golf cart in a Valencia woman’s garage caught fire Saturday afternoon, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Firefighters and sheriff’s deputies responded to a call from a woman living at the home in the 28000 block of North Steele Lane, inside a gated community, a few minutes after 3 p.m. The fire was contained to the garage and no one reported injuries, according to Sgt. Garrett Rifkin.
“There was a golf cart that was on fire, and it caused what sounds like a garage fire,” Rifkin said.
Rifkin added the golf cart was plugged in inside the garage and likely charging. Rifkin had no information about the house’s residents.
Deputies were inspecting the charred red golf cart with a distinctive crown logo in the resident’s driveway as first responders were clearing the scene Saturday. Pieces of garage door were lying in a stack near the cart.
According to the PulsePoint app, firefighters cleared the scene a little before 4 p.m., and sheriff’s deputies began clearing out at about 4:15 p.m.
