A man and a woman were each arrested on suspicion of attempted murder late Monday night following a shooting in Canyon Country that sent at least one person to hospital with a gunshot wound.

The incident marks the second shooting to occur in the same general area of Canyon Country within 24 hours.

An unidentified man was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital, Sgt. Dan Dantice of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station told The Signal Tuesday morning.

At 2 p.m., detectives were still interviewing two suspects in the case, he said.

“They’re still working on the details,” Dantice said.  “The story is evolving.

“They’re still trying to determine where the shooting took place,” he said.

Alvin Morales, a 22-year-old warehouse worker who lives in Canyon Country, and Raiyven Fuentes, 20, of Rosamond, a woman whose occupation was listed as stripper by local sheriff’s deputies, were each arrested at 11 p.m. Monday on suspicion of attempted murder.

Bail for both suspects was set at $2 million. Each suspect is scheduled to appear in San Fernando Superior Court Wednesday.

Emergency response crews were dispatched shortly before 9:15 p.m. Monday to an address near Palo Verde Place in the Jakes Way area of Canyon Country for reports of a possible gunshot victim.

Following standard procedure with violent crimes, fire and paramedic crews safely staged about a block away from the scene and waiting for clearance from the sheriff’s department to proceed.

When emergency crews arrived on scene, they found a person with a gunshot wound in an alleyway near an apartment complex, said Supervising County Fire Dispatcher Ed Pickett.

Sgt. Brian Shreves of the Santa Clarita Station added details about a car associated with the crime.

A female was found in the vehicle, he said. It’s unclear what role the vehicle and its passenger played in the shooting.

One person was transported via American Medical Response ambulance with a fire department escort to a local trauma center, Pickett said. To receive a fire chaperone, the patient is typically in moderate to critical condition, the dispatch supervisor said.

Two men were shot and taken to the hospital Sunday night after someone fired gunshots inside a partially open garage in Canyon Country.

The shooting happened shortly before 11:30 p.m. on the 27000 block of Fahren Court, near Jakes Way, when two men inside a garage were shot from the outside as the door of the garage opened, Lt. Rob Hahnlein of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said.
