St. Clare’s annual Lenten Fish Fries will get underway next Friday, March 3, continuing what is now a 39-year tradition of serving up delicious fish dinners that benefit many organizations in the community. Holy Mackerel!
Actually, the fish is Beer-battered Alaskan cod, served with rice pilaf or French fries, cole slaw, rolls, milk or coffee. This “best catch of the day” is available for $9.00 for a two-piece dinner and $10.00 for the three-piece dinner. Officially on the menu this year is the option for fish tacos, served 2 to a plate with rice and beans for $9.00. A salsa bar adds a little spice to the evening! Wine, beer and soft drinks are also available for purchase.
These legendary dinners will be served from 4:30 until 8 p.m. each Friday from March 3 through April 7. Meals are available for dining in or take-out. If the weather cooperates, dining outside will also be an option.
It’s always a good idea to save room for a little something sweet to finish off dinner. Each week a different group sponsors the dessert table with proceeds going to benefit that group. These include the Wives of the Knights of Columbus, Mission Circle, The Sower/RCIA groups, Cub and Boy Scouts, the Hispanic Ministry, and the Youth Ministry/Confirmation groups.
Among the beneficiaries of the fish fries are the Bridge to Home, SCV Food Pantry, the San Fernando Valley Counseling Center, the SCV Pregnancy Center, the Archdiocese of the Military, and individuals who need assistance.
We caught our limit – so we have plenty of fish for you. Please plan to join the many satisfied diners at one or more of the upcoming fish fries. These evenings are about more than just dinner. Think fine fish, friends, fellowship, and a whale of a time. We know you will fall for it…hook, line and sinker!
