A suspected carjacker got cold feet apparently when he opened the door of a targeted car and spotted kids in the backseat.

On Monday morning, about 7:50 a.m., on the 21700 block of Golden Triangle Road, a woman was in her car when the carjacking suspect opened the victim’s front passenger door, Shirley Miller, spokeswoman for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station told The Signal.

“The victim reported that when the suspect saw children in the backseat of car he said ‘sorry’ and walked away,” Miller said, noting a responding sergeant located the suspect in the area.

“The suspect had a replica firearm in his possession, along with burglary tools,” Miller said.

Jorge Garcia, 33, described as a transient, was arrested on suspicion of attempted carjacking.
