Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man found dead inside a car on Placerita Canyon Road Monday morning, officials confirmed.
Sheriff’s deputies responding to a report of gunfire arrived at an address on Placerita Canyon Road near Sand Canyon Road shortly after 11 a.m., according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman Shirley Miller.
Units surrounded a white four-door vehicle on Placerita Canyon Road between the East Walker Ranch Open Space and Pacy Street.
“They found a male adult and a female in a car,” Miller said.
The spokeswoman noted the man apparently suffered injuries from a gunshot wound.
Los Angeles County Fire Department and American Medical Response crews were called to the scene at 11:09 a.m., Fire Inspector Gustavo Medina said. The spokesman confirmed no one was transported to the hospital.
Shortly after noon, deputies at the scene confirmed that the male victim was pronounced dead.
The female in the car was not injured, Miller said.
A detective with the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s Homicide Bureau confirmed that detectives were called to Santa Clarita Valley shortly before noon.
Deputies examined the Nissan Sentra sedan in which the couple were found and noted the driver’s side window was shattered.
Traffic was stopped along Placerita Canyon Road while deputies sectioned a portion of the road off with yellow police tap to protect the scene.
