A woman was rushed to the hospital Monday afternoon following what local sheriff’s officials believe may have been a sexual assault.

When asked if the deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to reports of a rape on Sierra Highway near Placerita Canyon Road, Lt. Chuck Becerra said: “I am waiting to hear details from deputies going to the hospital.”

Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to an area on Sierra Highway, just north of Placerita Canyon Road, a Fire Department spokesman said.

“One patient was transported to the hospital,” he said.

When asked if paramedics had been dispatched to an assault, the Fire Department spokesman said: “You’ll have to speak to the sheriff on that.”

The woman was reportedly found in a dirt area near a trailer.

Details about the incident are expected to be disclosed later.
