Man arrested Thursday, in “drug diversion” Friday, arrested Saturday

A 23-year-old man, arrested five times this year, was arrested Thursday for drug possession for which he pleaded guilty on Friday, then was placed in a “drug diversion” program, arrested Saturday on suspicion of burglary.

Christian Pacheco, 23, of Reseda, pleaded guilty in the Santa Clarita Courthouse on Friday Nov. 3 to one misdemeanor count of possession of methamphetamine and entered into a drug diversion program, Ricardo Santiago, spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office told The Signal.

On Saturday, Nov. 4, about before 7:30 a.m., deputies of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station arrested him on suspicion of burglary, a felony.

Pacheco appeared Tuesday at the Santa Clarita Courthouse facing one felony count of second-degree commercial burglary, Santiago said.

“He pleaded not guilty on Nov. 7 and is due back on (next week) on Nov. 16 for pre-prelim.” he said.

During a preliminary hearing, prosecutors present evidence in the case, and the defense then has a chance to respond, after which the judge decides whether or not the case should got to trial.

Saturday’s arrest marks the fifth time Pacheco has been arrested this year. arrested previously on:

– May 19, in the SCV, on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance.

– June 26 by officers with the Los Angeles Police Department in Topanga.  On June 28,a grand theft case was referred to the city attorney’s office for filing consideration, Santiago said.

– Sept. 17, in the SCV, on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance.

– Nov. 2, in the SCV, on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance.

With regards to his latest arrest for burglary, Pacheco was allegedly identified by video surveillance equipment.

“Last Wednesday (Nov. 1), patrol deputies took a burglary report for a business located on the 27500 block of Sierra Highway, in Canyon Country,” Shirley Miller, spokeswoman for the SCV Sheriff’s Station told The Signal.

“The owner reported that their business was burglarized and numerous Items were stolen,” she said.

“Through surveillance video, deputies were able to identify the suspect,” Miller said.

“On Saturday, deputies were conducting a patrol check on the 18700 block of Mandan Street in Canyon country and spotted the suspect,” she said.

“Christian Pacheco, age 23, of Reseda, was arrested for burglary,” Miller said.

Pacheco is scheduled to appear in San Fernando Superior Court Thursday, Nov. 16.
