A Saugus man and a Castaic woman were arrested Monday on suspicion of kidnapping in connection with a case still under investigation, a sheriff’s official confirmed.

John Woods, 25, of Saugus, and Zoe Hollenbeck, a 20-year-old cleaner who lives in Castaic, were each arrested Monday evening on suspicion of kidnapping.

Woods’ bail was set at $100,000 and Hollenbeck’s at $101,000.

“We will not be releasing further information on this case at this time,” Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Lt. Ignacio Somoano said Tuesday afternoon.

“This is an active investigation with additional leads,” he said, describing the incident as “not a stranger matter.”

The sheriff’s lieutenant noted that the incident is not related to last week’s attempted kidnapping of a stroller in Valencia.

On Nov. 22, deputies responded to the southwest corner of McBean and Magic Mountain parkways, after a mother with a jogging stroller containing two small children, reported that a man had tried to steal the stroller, according to deputies.

In that incident, the suspect reportedly grabbed at the stroller’s handle and tried to take the stroller with the kids in side. There was a struggle with the carriage, but the victim was able to regain control of the stroller and ran from the suspect, according to sheriff’s station spokeswoman Shirley Miller.

Deputies, meanwhile, continue to look for the suspect in the stroller incident.

Station officials cited a description of that suspect as a white male, in his 60s, with blond hair, estimated to be about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, possible transient, in a green shirt, who fled toward the Santa Clara River.

He was also heavily tattooed, although there was no description of the tattoos available at this time.

If anyone has any information regarding the suspect they are asked to contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
