Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a Thanksgiving shooting west of Santa Clarita city limits, authorities confirmed Friday.

The shooting took place in Val Verde near the intersection of Chiquito Canyon Road and Lincoln Avenue at 9:06 p.m. Thursday night, according to Sgt. Wayne Waterman of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Although callers reported hearing gunshots fired in the area, sheriff’s units responding to the scene did not find shell casings or victims.

There was no damage to any property.

Waterman said witnesses saw a vehicle resembling a blue Chevrolet Suburban SUV leaving the area at the time the shots were heard.

The investigation into the incident is still active and anyone with information related to the shooting are encouraged to call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
