My name is Rowan Pinero, I am a resident of Santa Clarita and am a part of Boy Scout Troop 48.

A requirement of this (communication) merit badge is to contact an editor in a local newspaper about an opinion of mine. It is about the rush-hour traffic problem in Santa Clarita.

Every day people drive through Santa Clarita to get to work.

The freeways cannot handle all the cars, so map apps like Waze direct people through towns and neighborhoods, causing local residents driving their kids to school or going to work to double their 10- to 30-minute drive.

As a city we need to find a solution and make it cost- and time-efficient.

It is the best economy to live in and we need to use it to our advantage.
