Gerald Staack’s letter of Jan. 29, “Class Warfare is a Real Threat,” claims that class warfare was dormant until Donald Trump came along. Of course the conservatives and neo-liberals dominating the country are complicit. He mentions “Make America Great Again” as a negative, then quotes New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez with her views on the shutdown.
This congresswoman claims that wanting more border protection is widely unpopular with the American people. That is an obvious illegitimate claim.
The truth is, Ocasio-Cortez has no clue on how this country is run. Her outrageous remarks, on nearly every subject, contain more blather than anything sensible or realistic. For one, she obviously is unaware of the history of shutdowns or the number of them America has experienced in past decades.
Staack is convinced that America has an aristocracy today because of President Trump and urges civil disobedience and activism to prove our democracy.
Ocasio-Cortez and Gerald Staack could both use a civics lesson on how government operates.
