A Canyon County man arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after the truck he was allegedly driving fell 40 feel from one highway onto another Monday is scheduled to appear in court in July.

Procoro Martinez, 26, a contractor, according to California Highway Patrol officers who arrested him on a misdemeanor offense, is scheduled to appear in the Santa Clarita Courthouse July 24.

Martinez remains in custody with bail set at $15,000.

He was arrested shortly before 7:45 p.m. by CHP officers who responded to reports of a vehicle that drove off the road on the southbound lanes of Interstate 5, near the Highway 14 interchange, at 6:37 p.m. Tuesday.

“(The report) says a vehicle fell over the side, approximately 40 feet,” CHP Officer Patrick Kimball said at the time of the crash. The vehicle was described as a silver-colored pickup, according to officers on the scene.

“A SigAlert was issued at (7 p.m.) for one-and-a-half hours for the one and two lanes,” he said, adding that the alert was canceled by 8:04 p.m.

The driver of the pickup, later identified as Martinez, was alone in the truck and not trapped in the car as was originally reported to officers, Kimball said.

Martinez was transported to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills for treatment.
