A 34-year-old man was arrested this week for allegedly slapping the buttocks of a woman working at a convenience store just before he grabbed a beer and left without paying.

On Monday, about 1:30 p.m., deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a store on the 19260 block of Soledad Canyon Road, at Whites Canyon Road, for a battery report.

“The suspect allegedly walked towards an employee, an adult female, and asked for help finding an item,” Shirley Miller, spokeswoman for the SCV Sheriff Station said Tuesday.

“After the victim showed the suspect where the item was, the suspect walked up behind her and slapped the side of her buttocks with an open hand,” she said.

“The suspect then took a bottle of beer from the store and left without paying,” Miller said.

The suspect who lives in a neighborhood just east of Sand Canyon was arrested on suspicion of sexual battery and petty theft, both misdemeanors.
