A passenger on a Metrolink train who was allegedly attacked and punched in the face by a fellow train passenger fought back by stabbing his assailant in the shoulder, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The man LASD deputies identified as the attacker was taken to the hospital for a knife wound.
The man who produced a pocket knife to protect himself was treated at the scene for minor injuries, no charges, no arrest.
The two men were aboard an Antelope Valley Metrolink train bound for Palmdale from Santa Clarita.
At about 6:15 p.m., an argument broke out between the men which led to an assault on the Antelope Valley Metrolink train from Santa Clarita to Palmdale, LASD Deputy Michelle Sanchez wrote in a news release issued Tuesday.
“During the incident, the much larger suspect jumped onto the victim, and continually struck him in the face several times with his fists,” Sanchez wrote.
The victim, fearing for his life produced a pocket knife and stabbed the suspect in the shoulder to stop the threat, she added.
The suspect, 29-year-old Raffael Brown, was taken to a local hospital for injuries to his shoulder which were described as not life threatening.
Brown was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and placed in custody with bail set at $30,000.
The victim, a 49 year old resident of Palmdale was treated at the scene for minor injuries, Sanchez wrote.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information at this time.

A 29-year-old man was transported to a local hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries to his shoulder after an altercation that took place on a Metrolink train Monday evening, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Nixle report.
While riding the Metrolink Antelope Valley Line from Santa Clarita to Palmdale, the suspect, identified as Raffael Brown, 29, allegedly jumped the victim and began to strike him in the face, the report read.
The incident took place at approximately 6:15 p.m.
During the fight, the victim, who was identified only as a 49-year-old Palmdale resident, reportedly produced a pocket knife and stabbed Brown in the shoulder, according to the report.
The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries, according to the report.
Brown is set to be charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
