Firefighters were dispatched to a small grass fire shortly before 9 a.m. Thursday in the wash behind the new Porsche dealership near Auto Center Drive in Valencia.
“This is a small quarter-acre encampment fire,” said Sky Cornell, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
While they were originally worried about the fire spreading, additional units were called off as first units arrived on the scene at 8:45 a.m., according to fire officials.
The quarter-acre fire was located in the wash that runs underneath Valencia Boulevard, no structures were threatened and it was slow to spread, Cornell said.
The fire was stopped at the homeless encampment and no injuries were reported, according to Cornell.
The fire was extinguished at 9:21 a.m., fire officials said.
