Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested a man on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon Monday afternoon.

Deputies responded to the 24400 block of Lyons Avenue for a report of an assault around 4:45 p.m., according to the preliminary arrest report.

A man wearing a white shirt and tan pants was reported to have pulled out a knife and attempted to stab the victim and his dog, according to the victim’s statements.

“Upon arrival, deputies immediately detained a man matching the suspect description,” according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga of the SCV Sheriff’s Station, citing the arrest report.

“During their investigation, deputies learned the victim was inside his motorhome when he heard his dog barking repeatedly outside,” Arriaga said. When the victim opened the door, the 34-year-old suspect allegedly approached the victim and brandished a knife from under his shirt.

The victim and suspect then reportedly began arguing, and the suspect allegedly threatened to cause harm to the victim and his dog, according to the victim’s statements.

The suspect was detained and, after further investigation, arrested on suspicion of a felony charge of making criminal threats.
